Long time no post...
Well its been months since the last post so I guess I should update people on whats going on. First I'll start with the reason for lack of posts, which probably has to do with the World of Warcraft(WoW) subscription that I got for Christmas and have been playing a whole long since then. I'm having lots of fun with my (currently) Level 58 Night Elf Hunter. I'm wanting to start some of the higher instances but my guild is just starting and doesn't have a lot of players ready or willing to do them just yet.
Second, my story. The one on AnimeNations' forums is done, but the one i've been writing hasn't been updated since my last post. Again, mostly due to WoW taking up my free time. I suppose I should set aside some time to work on it, but it takes at least 15 minutes to get back in the groove of the story and then very few if any distractions to get any good writing done. Regardless, I will at least attempt to write something tonight. Maybe if the weather's nice I'll take the laptop from work outside and write out there. We shall see.
Third, work. Been working hard on several websites including Habersham County, Peach County Chamber of Commerce, The Country Club, and Somewhere in Augusta. Probably a few others that I have done but done recall if I finished them before my last post or not. One thing I'm checking out is getting a ColdFusion Chat and Blog set up for a new client. It's interesting to note, that I work exclusively in ColdFusion at work, but have to code in PHP if I want to work on my personal stuff. Probably why I don't work on my personal stuff that much. Another non-work related site recently completed is Crafty Weasels. It's a site dedicated to the sewing group in Atlanta that makes bedding for various shelters across the US. I had to talk to GoDaddy the other day because their servers weren't pointing the domain name correctly causing much trouble when trying to access the site. All that should be resolved now though.
Finally, and most importantly, family. We are doing good. Gandalf isn't doing so hot however. He's lost a lot of weight and we are doing all we can to keep him going. He's still fairly active, considering his condition. Doesn't like to play rough and squeaks when someone attacks him. Rainbow and Taitou also lost some weight they both were aggressive with the nbone treats, so I think they were both "crack" addicts. Holding off on food in the hopes of getting the treat. We stopped giving them the treats and have put Rainbow on a ferretone/galanthys treatment to get her to eat more and she has been gaining some of the weight back. Taitou wasn't so bad so we are letting him recover on his own.
We finally decided to get rid of the video rockers that I liked so much. Despite how much I liked them there simply wasn't enough room for them. So about 2 minutes after Ann posted them on FreeCycle we had about a half dozen offers to take them. We called a guy at Fort Gordon and after several wrong turns he finally managed to make his way to our house and pick up the chairs.
I'll try to make more posts from now on. Since Tuesday morning is the time for the WoW servers to do their weekly maintenance. I guess I could use Tuesdays for writing and/or posting. Only time will tell if that will work or not.
Oh, and if you're reading this and happen to play WoW...on the Draenor server...on the Alliance side....you can send a message to Littlefire. That's my lvl58 NE Hunter.

Finally fixed that bar....
Since I decided to start posting things to my blog again, I decided I should actually fix the issue on the individual entry pages where the nav bar is messed up where you cant see the nav or really the date either.
After much poking and prodding and asking my brother, John, for help, I manage to make it readable. I'll work on making it look better and more like what I want on some other day. I would prefer it to look more like the main page, like John has, but that requires work and work is something I currently have plenty of.
Speaking of work, it seems to be going pretty well. I have lots of things to do, which usually translates into money. Another county has decided that they want a spiffy website from us. And they want several of the optional features that are currently, non-existant. Which of course means I will have to create them. I havent seen the list of the ones they want, but hopefully they will be relatively simple and I can knock them out pretty quick. But we'll see...

Finally...
I had been noticing large amounts of spam in my newly created guestbook... Ok so all but 2 entries were spam and one of those i'm not sure about. Either way I started researching image verification to add some anti-spam to the thing and managed to get it working finally. Now if I can just transfer that knowledge over to cold fusion I can set up the same kind of thing on the guestbook for Moby in the Morning who has also been getting some spam in their guestbook.
Actually I know what I have to do, and I know how to do it. I just dont have the tools to do it like I want. There is this cool program called ImageMagick that is essentially a command-line version of photoshop. Now it's not nearly as powerful naturally but it has its uses. And the one I want allows me to add random text and such to a image and post it on the web for this image verification thing. Unfortuanly the version on the webserver now is about 5 years old. The new version will do what I want.
Haven't made any other major site updates due to lack of time and lack of want after being at the PC all day at work. Speaking of work I've finished work on several sites since the last time I posted:
Peach County Government
Water Dude - A local bottled water delivery service
and...
Rhineharts - A local seafood restaurant that is "Beyond Causal"
Those three sites bring the total number of commerical sites built by me to a whopping 10. A few more of those and I might start making money.

Changes
Made a few changes to the layout and I think it looks good. I like the seperate boxes rather than being all one object. If it doesnt show up right on someone's screen just let me know and I figure out how to make it look right. If you do let me know make sure you indicate what OS you are running and what Browser and version you are using. And now I will attempt to add the character chat to the blog.
| [Mamoru] | Well would you look at that? It's a blog and we're part of it. |
| [Munch-Munch] | This is kinda neat. But will it really help Valkyrie post any more? |
| [Mamoru] | Perhaps. But ya never really know with him do you? |
| [Munch-Munch] | No, I suppose not. But we can always hope. |

More Updates
Tweaked the styles this morning so the site looks good in Internet Explorer. And let me just mention how much I dislike IE and Microsoft in general.
The World Wide Web Consortium had implemented standards that were supposed to make any properly coded page display correctly in any browser. The issues i've been running into being a web designed are that what I feel is a properly coded webpage that shows up right in a known standards compliant brower, Firefox, doesn't nessicarily show up correct in IE. Now normally that wouldnt be a problem but at least 80% of the world uses IE. Which means that I have to code my pages specifically for IE, sometimes causing them not to show up right in Firefox. Most of the time I can code it right so it looks good in both IE and Firefox, but it just drives me nuts. Maybe when IE7 comes out it will support the actual standards better.
I wonder if coding my pages using the Strict Validation will help any....
